Field installation of warning lights
John Deere models 50, 60, 70 and "R" tractors

The warning lamp assemblies for John Deere tractors are listed in John Deere Service Bulletin No. 225, March 1955. The following basic assemblies are required:
Model 70 diesel tractors require a new F2209R starting control lever. Models 60 and 70 LP-Gas tractors require a fuel converter bracket in place of the carburetor intake elbow. This is not required on the model 50 LP-Gas tractor. Elbow or bracket should be ordered as indicated in Service Bulletin No. 225.
Models "R" and 60 orchard use a fender-mounted lamp not requiring the mast.
Installation:
| Tractor model | Dimension H | Dimension F |
| Model 50 | 1-3/4" up | 2-1/4" forward |
| Model 60 | 1-18" up | 2-13/16" forward |
| Model 60 LP | 1-7/8" up | On vertical center line |
| Model 70 | 1-7/8" up | On vertical center line |
| Model 70 LP | 1-7/8" up | On vertical center line |
Note: LP-Gas tractors require a spacer between pivot bracket and hood end support.
2. Install the proper carburetor intake elbow or fuel converter bracket, then proceed with installation of lamp hanger bracket. This supports the lamp in the out-of-use position. Models 60 and 70 LP-Gas tractors require installation of the new A5270R fuel converter bracket for attaching out-of-use hanger bracket.
3. Connect lamp lead to rear lamp terminal on combination switch. Support the lead with an A2421R clip on inside of hood at the lower rear hood support screw. Install lamp with amber to front, red to rear. In order to position lamp properly in hanger bracket (out-of-use position), loosen
clamping screw in warning lamp mast bracket and adjust length of mast so that lamp is centered in the lamp hanger. On LP-Gas models, rotate mast 90 degrees to place lamp in hanger.
NOTE: For the model 70 diesel, install F2209R starting control lever, replacing the F2035R lever. Attach the out-of use support bracket to the drilled and tapped air intake pipe (AF1.967R, just back of the air cleaner). Adjust mast as for other models.
Model 60 orchard and model "R"
For the model "R" tractor, mount bracket on left fender crown. For the model 60 orchard, mount bracket on the fender.
For the out-of-use position, the lamp may be mounted on the left battery box on the model 60 orchard. For the model "R," no out-of-use position is suggested as the lamp will remain on the fender.
For the model "R," cut the lamp lead to 29 inches. Connect to left headlamp and insert and A2421R clip between fender and cowl. For the model 60 orchard, connect lead to combination switch, using rear warning lamp terminal.
